GCC CLAN
NewsLetter
Editor:
Chuckster Gulf Coast Commandos
NEWS from the Admins.
Founder and Admin: BigB, Support Admin's: Chuckster & V1ROT8
CHEATS:
It appears the ‘NoFog” mod
has again raised it’s ugly head resulting in the banishment
of one of our members.
For those of you that don’t know the particulars, the member
was caught by anti cheat software on another Clan’s
server and kicked. The server
admin contacted and informed us of the situation and we
banned the offending member.
Just another reason to move to, and
play on Missionary compliant servers.
Transfers
and new assignments:
Transfer
Assignments have been completed. Check
the webpage to see your position
within
the Clan.
PROMOTIONS:
The
question of promotion
has come up several times during this month and the
following
guidelines were discussed with the Division Commanders.
Ø
Division
commanders will have the sole responsibility of promoting individuals
within their ranks
Ø
Promotion should
be based on TEAM leadership ability and not entirely on the
number of kills acquired during game play. We are primarily a Capture the Flag
clan and the number of flags posted is our objective.
Ø
During this Rapid
Expansion period of our Clan, there may be positions filled
by “Acting” Leaders.
They will be designated by (Actn) at the end of their title
Ø
There must be
some commonality within the Divisions on the criteria required
to promote, therefore I challenge the Div. Commanders to
establish a
“Promotion. Requirements Guideline” for
publication in the next Newsletter.
MISSIONARY:
I
am VERY pleased to report the push to get Missionary installed on all members
computers
is progressing extreamely well. There
have been some issues and not
everyone
is “Up and running” just yet, but the response has been phenomenal.
THANKS, not only for being willing to suffer the effort to get it installed,
but for
your
patience of my lack of knowledge when we run into a problem. I really
believe
the end result will more than justify the installation issues.
There
have been some concerns expressed about the addition of the second
Missionary server. Primarily, “Aren’t we reducing our public player
base?” and
“How
will we recruit new players into the Clan if they can’t get into our
servers?”
Both
those are valid questions and need to be addressed. Our plan is to convert the
169/18 position server into the Custom Map Missionary
Server. The 34 server will
then
become the “Public” server and run CTF on stock maps. There will be a banner
periodically
displayed throughout gameplay that will advise all players to visit our
webpage
and join us on our “Cheat Free” servers.
During the initial phase of the
transition,
we MAY disable the requirement for Missionary on one or both servers
for brief
periods to entice players to install it.
We should have our second
Missionary Server up and running with in the next week.
It will initially run Custom
Maps and a variety of game types. There
will be a Poll
posted in the forums for each map and gameplay type so that
we can select the
maps YOU like to play on, and the type of game you
prefer. We should end up
with several different rotations of maps. Those can be changed as well.
The plan is to have 20 maps
per rotation. With a 30 min nominal
running time
per map, that means you could play for 10 hours with out
ever playing the same
map twice. If the
config file is set up to swap the gametypes, you would have to
play for 20 hours to repeat the same map and
gametype. Talk about a week-end
marathon!!
There are currently 73 maps
that are support by the Melfy mods (Freeze Tag &
Capture The Flag). They are listed below: We already have the ones
highlighted and will be collecting the others as we can find
them. They will be
cycled to determine the ones we enjoy playing the most. Unless the majority
of the members really dislike a map, the cycle frequency
will be weekly and
based on the poles.
This will only work IF you participate, so be sure to
VOTE for your favorites! Otherwise, you’re stuck with the maps I pick!

POLicy Changes:
Boy!
Policy changes occur so often around here, you don’t want to miss a day of
attendance. Anyway, the new ones are:
Disbandment
of the ROTC Division
It
was decided to disband the ROTC division.
This was partially because the
ROTC
members felt segregated from the rest of the Clan. That was NOT the
intention,
but it was the way, at least some of them felt. Additionally, several
ROTC
members had expressed an interest in joining the new Rifle/Sniper Div.
The
original purpose of the ROTC Div was to allow younger members an
opportunity
to participate in the game and yet be recognized as minors. We
feel this
can still be accomplished by assimilating them into the other Divisions.
That
method allows more freedom when assigning members to squads based on
their
individual skills.
The
below info is part of a post that appeared in the forums and is worth
repeating.
=====================================================
ALL members under the age of eighteen will still be
required to have ROTC as
a part of their Clan Tags. This
is to serve notice to non-GCC players that there
are minors playing the game, and
they must conduct themselves accordingly.
All under eighteen members Tags should read:
*GCC*Pvt-PlayerName<1st>ROTC
*GCC*Pvt-PlayerName<2nd>ROTC
*GCC*Pvt-PlayerName<R&S>ROTC
=====================================================
TeamSpeak:
The
post below was taken from the forums and originally written by TexasJedi. It
was
posted by V1ROT8 and is included here in it’s entirety to remind all of the need
to be
aware of the “PG” rating.
1.The Main Lobby will now be used for all players, without any curfew
imposed
upon the ROTC
members.
2. The Over 17 Channel will
be password protected and made available to
players over the age of seventeen. This
channel will not have restrictions
on profanity, sexual innuendo, or
adult humor. However members should
remember that this remains a public
forum and retain a certain level of
decorum.
3. The ROTC (Under 18 ) Channel will be
renamed to the MATCH channel.
4. The MATCH channel is for
General Use EXCEPT when a Clan Match is
in progress. During that time, it
will be restricted to members Actively
participating in the MATCH! This will be
enforced and repeat violators
will be banned from TeamSpeak for an
indeterminate period of time.
Otherwise, if the Main Lobby has
excessive traffic, members can use this
Channel as a secondary channel.
5. The Server 1 Channel will
be used for members who are playing on the
63.209.37.169
server.
Members are asked to move to this channel while
playing on the 169 Server. Members have
the ability to further break
apart into Axis and Allied teams at
their discretion.
6. The Server 2 Channel will
be used for members who are playing on
the 63.209.37.159 server. Members
are asked to move to this channel
while playing on the 159 Server.
Members have the ability to further
break apart into Axis and Allied
teams at their discretion.
7. The Server 3 Channel
(Rifle Only) will be used for members who
are playing on the 63.210.145.34
server. Members are asked to move
to this channel while playing on
the 34 Server. Members have the ability
to further break apart into Axis
and Allied teams at their discretion.
8. The Team Away Channel may
be used for members who are playing
on Server(s) other than the GCC
servers. Members have the ability to
maintain communication without
interfering with members on Clan
servers.
Parental Guidance Suggested
This program contains material that parents may find
unsuitable for
younger children. Many parents may want
to watch it with their younger
children. The theme itself may call for
parental guidance and/or the
program contains one
or more of the following: moderate violence (V),
some sexual situations (S), infrequent coarse language
(L), or some
suggestive dialogue (D).

Server Fund
At this time there is no charge
to belong to the Clan. Originally all costs were
born by BigB and he is the party directly responsible to
our Server Provider.
Unfortunately, he informs me
that he is NOT repeating NOT
independently
wealthy!
Big B has received several
donations this month. THANK YOU!
However, the contributions
are not enough to pay for the server, he still
makes up the necessary difference. While there are no plans to make
membership contributions mandatory, ANY amount is APPRECIATED.
And
the addition of a larger server or adding any additional
servers will be limited
by the funds available.
So this spot in the News Letter is to remind every
one when the Server Payment is coming due. Like this week!!
If you wish to donate, there
is a link on the webpage that will allow you to
donate directly to our Server provider
.
If you have a PayPal account you can make a donation
to:
Or if you prefer not to use your
credit card via the internet, you may mail
your donation to:
