NEWS from the Admins.

MAN!! There has been a lot happening since the last
Newsletter. Whoever thought
that we
would have been SO active, what with summer vacations and holidays? While
I'm
sure I can not remember ALL the activities so I will try to get some of the
major
ones
mentioned. We'll start with items that
are most recent and work backwards a bit.
CTF Summer Tourney:
After
a couple of postponements, considerable deliberation and a lot of planning, the
Tourney
is finally underway. Several obstacles presented
themselves at the onset, not
the least
of which was trying to find players for all the slots we had agreed to
fill. A
misunderstanding in the start time, coupled with misinterpretation regarding the rules
and the maps
to be played left those that did participate at a distinct disadvantage. I am
proud to state that
of the GCC members that started a match, ALL participated with
the HONOR,
Integrity and Good Sportsmanship GCC
has become known for.
What
ensued afterwards, within our own ranks, is a subject I'll address in the
Members Only Section of our Forums.
Suffice
to say, we did not start with a bang BUT, I feel we will use the lessons
learned
to
improve our strategy and allow us to correct some of the short comings associated
with
proper setup for the matches. A couple
of comments here, several of our
players
experienced high pings and excessive lag.
That problem is being addressed.
While
I'm not sure we can improve the lag problems, I'm pretty sure we can at least
NOT
have our participating players Kicked for high pings of 120 during match play.
Based
on the withdrawals of several participants AND an infraction of the rules
concerning
players switching teams, a new roster is posted on the Forums. IF you
agreed to
participate in the matches, PLEASE check the Forums for the updated team
assignments. IF you don't like your position, TALK TO ONE
OF THE ADMINS!!
I
know we have the skill and talent to overcome this obstacle. Come on all Get 'em!
Transfers, Promotions, Resignations &
Bannishments:
There
have been several recent Transfers and Promotions. Those affected have been
notified
of the changes in their positions. Please
check the Roster for details.

Green Lantern - Misconduct on another Clan's Server
MISSIONARY:
Otherwise
known as "Chuck's Folly". I think Missionary is a dead issue. As
many of you know, we have changed to Foresight as our anti
cheat software.
Presently, the Foresight developers are
working on a new addition which will be
a "Client Side" version of the program. This
is their attempt to stop the cheaters.
WHEN it is completed and made
available, GCC will evaluate it and determine IF it
meets our requirements.
The Admin Team will keep you apprised of the progress
concerning this issue.
POLicy Changes:
There
have been no Policy changes since the last Newsletter.
TeamSpeak:
I would like to remind everyone that while we no
longer have an R.O.T.C.
Division, we do have Clan Members that are under the
age of 18. As such,
PLEASE refrain from using profanity while on the
general channels of
TeamSpeak. Move to the
"Over 17" channel. If no one
joins you, it may
be that they don't appreciate coarse language either. Certainly worth
consideration.
Parental
Guidance Suggested
This program contains material that parents may find
unsuitable for
younger children. Many parents may want
to watch it with their younger
children. The theme itself may call for
parental guidance and/or the
program contains one
or more of the following: moderate violence (V),
some sexual situations (S), infrequent coarse language
(L), or some
suggestive dialogue (D).
Membership
Our Clan now has 45
Members. At the publishing of the last
NewsLetter, we
had 50 members. At
that time not all the members were "Active" and that
still holds true.
There are several "Members" that I have not seen on the
servers for several weeks.
I am hoping that is due to Summer Vacations etc.
As the fall approaches and schedules
become more routine, I hope to see
more participation from all our members.

The Admin Team is constantly
looking for ways to improve our servers.
Consequently, we change
things based on comments and ideas YOU provide.
Obviously, we can't make
multiple daily changes, but the intent IS to make the
game enjoyable by most of the members. Let the Admin's know what your
preferences are and we will try to accommodate them. As always, the majority
will determine the final decision.
NEW MODS:
New Melfy CTF Mod introduced on all our servers. There are new Flag
locations and some corrections to map
"glitches". Since it is "in
use" on
other servers and, it is REAL frustrating to have the
enemy's flag and NOT
know where to post it, there is a new page on our Website
listing the new
flag locations. It
also has the original locations for reference.
Click on the
CTF Link on the bottom of the
left panel on the Home page.
Server 1&2 weapons
have been modded to provide 4 grenades if you choose
a rifle.
Additionally, you get 2 smoke canisters in stead of 1.
Server 2 has
been Temporarily changed to Freeze Tag to allow
practice for
the upcoming match(see below). It will be returned to CTF Custom Maps
after the match. If
you want a specific map or would like mixed gametypes,
please let an Admin know.
(We all flunked MindReading 101. LOL)
Server 3 is
a Rifles Only server and has been modded to remove
EVERYTHING except
rifles and Smoke. As mentioned above, If you want
it changed, speak
with an Admin.
Clan Matches
We have a Freeze Tag Clan
Match scheduled for this coming Saturday at
Check the forums for the IP
and Password. We NEED Team members.
PLEASE contact Arkman if you
are interested. (See Summer CTF Tourney above)
Server Fund
At this time there is no
charge to belong to the Clan. Originally all costs were
born by BigB and he is the party directly responsible to
our Server Provider.
Unfortunately, he informs me
that he is NOT repeating NOT
independently
wealthy!
To those that have contribituted to the "Server Fund" THANK YOU!
However, the contributions
are not enough to pay for the server. BigB still
makes up the necessary difference. There are no plans to make membership
contributions mandatory but, ANY amount is APPRECIATED. And the
addition of a larger server or adding any additional servers
will be limited
by the funds available.
So this spot in the News Letter is to remind every
one that the Server Payment is NOW DUE. Like this week!!
